INTRODUCTION

The Reno Gem & Mineral Society is a non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of creating, developing, and encouraging interest in the rock, gem and mineral hobbies, to enjoy field trips and learn the location and identification of various materials.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

General Meetings, open to the public, are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse, at 480 S Rock Blvd, Sparks NV 89431. The program is usually educational and relating to some aspect of the hobby or a related subject.

FIELD TRIPS

Classes are held in the Clubhouse during the fall, winter and spring months.

WORKSHOPS

Additional time for qualified members to work their material is made available in our well-equipped shop.

GEM SHOWS

The Club holds an annual “Jackpot of Gems” show. Club members, and others, are encouraged to exhibit the materials they have made and/or collected. There are dealers selling items such as jewelry, polished and faceted stones, jewelry findings, tools and minerals. Our Club is a member of the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies and exhibitors are encouraged to enter their displays in competition under the California Federation rules.

SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

Several functions are held each year, including several potluck suppers, an annual picnic, and a Christmas party. A fund raising rummage sale and a craft fair are also usually held.
